AIB League Division Three club Banbridge have completed the signing of former Ulster and Ireland winger Tyrone Howe.

The 35-year-old, who scored a try on his 14th and final appearance for Ireland against South Africa two years ago, retired from professional rugby at the end of last season.

He played 100 times for Ulster – coming off the bench against Border Reivers in May for his final cap for the province. Howe also marked his farewell to Stevenson Park in March with a two-try haul for Dungannon against UL Bohemians in AIB League Division One.

The 2001 Lion is no stranger to Banbridge – he began his rugby career at Banbridge Academy and was elected as a Councillor for the County Down town’s District Council last year.

Banbridge, who finished twelfth in Division Three last season, begin their training for the 2006/07 campaign next Tuesday (July 25).
