EDDIE O’SULLIVAN: POST-MATCH COMMENTS

– ON PLAYING NEW ZEALAND –

“Games like tonight give you a lot of confidence that you can stay with them (the All Blacks). I wouldn’t panic about having to play New Zealand then (in a possible World Cup quarter-final).”

– REFLECTIONS ON THE SECOND TEST –

“It turned into a boxing match and when you play New Zealand you are boxing a weight below their category so it was really a sluggish match in heavy conditions that didn’t quite suit us.

“We lost the ping-pong game in our half at times and we struggled to get out of it.

“But our accuracy was pretty good. I can’t complain too much about the performance. I would have liked to get the win out of it but it didn’t happen.”

– ON THE LACK OF MATCH FOOTAGE FOR THE SHANE HORGAN INCIDENT –

“(To not have access to additional match footage from Sky (host broadcaster)) This is a very unacceptable situation. It seems we’ve been punished because we refused to let a camera into our changing room, which is against all our principles.

“They’re entertainment issues and I see where they’re coming from but this is a citing issue and a player (Horgan) got injured.

“The citing commissioner has attempted to get the video footage and he’s been refused. We’re in a very unusual situation, I’ve never seen this before.”
