Pictured above: UCC flanker Ross Noonan is tackled by Scottish centre Iain Kennedy as the Irish Under-21s press for a try late in the game.

UCD centre Fergus McFadden gets away from Iain Kennedy of Scotland. McFadden’s second half try helped Ireland into a 16-14 lead but the final quarter saw the Scots win out.

Galwegians winger Peter Durcan attempts a break in Athlone with Scottish flanker John Barclay in hot pursuit. Durcan was a member of the Ireland Under-19 squad that took part in the U-19 World Cup in South Africa last April.

Scottish flanker Alan McDonald tries to halt the progress of Ireland’s Matthew Williams. A talented winger, Williams, who turns 21 next month, studies at Hartpury College in Gloucester and plays his club rugby for Bristol Shoguns. Williams scored a try on his debut for the Under-21s against Italy last month. His father Chris Williams was a former Bristol player.

Fergus McFadden tries to slice through the Scottish midfield.

Matthew Williams keeps a hold of possession despite pressure from the Scottish defence.
