Pictured above: Ireland centre Patrique Kelly (left) and number 8 Joy Neville (right) celebrate a hard-fought victory at the final whistle. It was only Ireland’s second ever win against Spain – the girls in green beat Spain for their first ever 6 Nations success back in 2003.

Ireland flanker Rachel Boyd on the charge against the Spanish defence.

Ireland flanker Orla Brennan notches her side’s second try after 47 minutes.

Flying Ireland winger Suzanne Fleming darts in for her 58th-minute try.

Patrique Kelly gets tackled by Spanish full-back Monserrat Poza Fernandez.

Rachel Boyd comes under pressure from Spanish fly half Ines Exteguibel Alberdi.

Ireland captain Sarah Jane Belton tries to break through the Spanish midfield. Munster fly half Belton said after the win: “We had been training very well, and today Spain just wanted to kick the ball all day and our back three dealt well with it and we were able to play how we wanted to. It’s a great start for us.”
