Pictured above: Clontarf’s South African flanker Jacob Ellison gets it in the face from Dungannon replacement Andrew Fitzpatrick. ‘Tarf came from 20-0 down midway through the first half to win 30-20 in an entertaining tie.

Dungannon try scorer Dale Black tries to evade the grasp of Clontarf centre Marc Hewitt. Ulster Under-21 centre/winger Black, signed from Portadown for this season, scored ‘Gannon’s second try to help them into a 20-0 lead.

Prop Robert Sweeney, the scorer of ‘Tarf’s opening try just three minutes before the break, is the meat in the sandwich between Dungannon’s Gareth Steenson and Andrew Hughes.

Clontarf lock Andy Wood is wrapped up by Dungannon’s Mick Rainey.

Clontarf centre Breffni O’Donnell, formerly of UL Bohs, puts in a tackle on ‘Gannon’s Andrew Hughes.

Scrum half Fiach O’Loughlin, another of ‘Tarf’s summer signings, misses a tackle on Dungannon centre Glen Telford, who, along with fly-half Steenson, was a pivotal member of the Ireland side that reached the IRB Under-21 World Cup in 2004.
