Exile To Address Oxford University Blues Before Tonga Game

Ces Shaw, the Honorary Secretary of the Exiles Branch of the IRFU and a former Oxford captain, has been asked to address the “Dark Blues” team.

Ces Shaw, the Honorary Secretary of the Exiles Branch of the IRFU and a former Oxford captain, has been asked to address the “Dark Blues” team and present them with their shirts before their game with Tonga on Sunday, November 6.

Ces, an Ulsterman and a member of Malone RFC, played for the Blues from 1974 to 1976 before an injury sustained against Australia curtailed his rugby. The side he captained contained several internationals, such as Charles Kent (England), Roger Davies (Australia), Dougal McDonald (South Africa), Jon Davies (Wales), and Donald McDonald (Scotland). Together, they enjoyed triumphs over first class sides such as Cardiff, Northampton, Leicester and Gloucester.

Ces is very pleased by this invitation from the Blues captain – Andy Dalgleish – and joins a distinguished list of people such as Nick Mallet (Oxford and South Africa), who have been honoured by the Blues in this way.
