Horgan Injury Doubt For Lions

A lengthening injury list saw coach Sir Clive Woodward abandon the Lions’ training session today and delay his team announcement for Saturday’s third Test against the All Blacks.

A lengthening injury list saw coach Sir Clive Woodward abandon the Lions’ training session today and delay his team announcement for Saturday’s third Test against the All Blacks.

Leinster and Ireland centre Shane Horgan, a second half substitute in yesterday’s 17-13 win over Auckland for the midweek Lions, is the latest concern for Woodward and company.

The 26-year-old back had three stitches put in a cut forehead during the Eden Park encounter, while he also experienced tightness in his hamstring.

Horgan, a substitute in both of the Test losses to the All Blacks, could return to the Test 22 if he shows signs of a quick recovery, however.

Woodward is already planning without Jonny Wilkinson (neck/shoulder), Gavin Henson (neck/shoulder), Charlie Hodgson (concussion), Andrew Sheridan (ankle), Ollie Smith (ribs) and Ben Kay (eye) for the Auckland finale, while Horgan, Neil Back (throat infection), captain Gareth Thomas (virus), Will Greenwood (shoulder) and Gethin Jenkins (ankle) have still to prove their fitness.
