Shaun Payne has become the third Munster player to be rewarded with a Guinness Draught Can Celtic League Player Of The Month gone this season.

Voted for by members of the Irish sporting media, Munster full-back Payne has followed in the footsteps of Christian Cullen (October) and Denis Leamy (December) by claiming the award for April.

The 33-year-old Payne has put in a number of outstanding performances in the closing stages of the League this season, running his try-tally up to 5 in 18 games, and posing a contast treat from the rear.

Guinness Brand Manager Ronan Beirne said: “Congratulations to Shaun on picking up the last Guinness Draught Can award for this season. His form of late has been outstanding for Munster.

“Shaun joins a list of truly top class rugby players that have been honoured over the Celtic League campaign for 2004/05, and I hope this award is a welcome boost for him in the run-up to the Celtic Cup final at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.”
