AIL Round Robin: Unbeaten Sides To Clash

Unbeaten sides Naas and Nenagh Ormond clash in Tipperary next Saturday, after opening wins in the AIL Round Robin qualifiers last weekend.

Fighting for a spot in next season’s Division Three, with Ballina already demoted, Nenagh – by virtue of their four-try 40-27 defeat of Monivea – top the table on five points alongside Rainey Old Boys.

Rainey picked up a losing bonus point in their second outing of the qualifiers – a heart-breaking 14-13 loss to Naas at Forenaughts on Saturday.

Naas fly-half Joey Moran – who was swamped by his celebrating team mates on the final whistle – struck a clinching penalty from the halfway line in the depths of injury-time.

The Kildare men led 11-0 at the break, but Rainey charged back through a Jerome McMurray try and drop goal, and Michael Glancy’s penalty and conversion.

Moran, however, had the final say.
