2006 RBS 6 Nations Schedule Announced

The schedule for the 2006 RBS 6 Nations Championship has been announced, with Ireland set to take on Italy in the opening game. Click here for more.

Ireland are to open their 2006 RBS 6 Nations campaign at home to this season’s wooden spoonists Italy on Saturday, February 4, followed – seven days later – by a trip to Paris to face France.

The Championship will then take a rest week before resuming on the weekend of February 25-26, when Eddie O’Sullivan’s men next play their only Sunday game against recent Grand Slam winners Wales.

Ireland will then entertain Scotland at home on Saturday, March 11 before they travel to London to face England at Twickenham as part of the now traditional ‘Super Saturday’ finale.

Mike Ruddock’s Wales will begin the defence of the title with a tough assignment in west London against an England side sure to be looking for revenge following their 11-9 collapse in Cardiff this year.

More good news for the 6 Nations Championship is that sponsors – the Royal Bank of Scotland – have agreed to remain as sponsors for a further four years, bringing their sponosrship up to and including the 2009 Championship.
