Connacht coach Michael Bradley is to marshall an Ireland ‘A’ selection against France A at Donnybrook next Friday (kick-off 7.00pm).

The 42-year-old – 40 times capped as an Ireland scrum-half from 1984-1995 – will be joined on the ‘A’ management and coaching staff, by assistant coach Allen Clarke, the former Ireland hooker and current Ulster assistant, and Joey Miles, who is to act as team manager.

Ulster man Miles will replace the long-serving Brian O’Brien in the Irish senior team management, following the conclusion of the 2005 RBS Six Nations.

The Donnybrook meeting with their French counterparts will be a first outing for Ireland A since March 2003 – when an 85th-minute penalty from Mark McHugh saw off England A 24-21 at the same Dublin venue.

The A series of games was discontinued two years ago. However, the need for further international competitive experience has led to the arrangement of this game, between the IRFU and the FFR (Fidiration Frangaise de Rugby).

The Irish team to play France A will be announced next Tuesday, March 8.
