Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll came through his second training session this week unscathed on Tuesday. However his centre partner Gordon D’Arcy was forced to cut short his practice.

While O’Driscoll – set to captain the ‘North’ selection in next month’s IRB Rugby Aid fixture at Twickenham – looks certain to be named in coach Eddie O’Sullivan’s side for Sunday’s RBS Six Nations clash with England, it is unclear as what D’Arcy’s involvement might be.

The Leinster centre – who spent last week rehabilitating his hamstring injury, along with O’Driscoll, in Spala, Poland – reported a ‘tightness’ in it and was withdrawn from the session as a ‘precautionary measure’.

More will be known when O’Sullivan names his squad at the CityWest hotel later today, although adverse weather conditions have interrupted the squad’s morning training session.
