Sevens Win For Ireland

An Ireland Sevens squad under manager George Spotswood and coach Ryan Constable were successful in Sopot, Poland in a pre-qualifier for the 2005 RWC Sevens World Cup.

An Ireland Sevens squad under manager George Spotswood and coach Ryan Constable were successful in Sopot, Poland last weekend in the first of two tournaments in the European Sevens Circuit that will act as pre-qualifiers for the sevens Rugby World Cup in 2005.

Ireland defeated Russia 26-17 in the final having accounted for Germany 38-0 at the semi-final stage and the Czech Republic 35-7 in the quarter finals.

In the pools stages Ireland opened with a 33-0 victory over Poland (2), followed that with a 28-5 win over Latvia and finally a 24-5 victory over Poland (1).

Their next engagement is in Croatia (15th- 16th May).
