The Ireland Schools side ended their international campaign with a 25-11 defeat in Toulouse on Saturday evening, having trailed at half-time 13-3.

A try from Maxime Mermoz converted by Charlie Pharlyhatek – who also added two penalies – had the home side in control at the end of the opening half.

They increased their advantage and sealed the outcome with further tries in the second half from winger Fabien Grimaud.

A late try from Diarmuid Laffan served as some consolation to the Irish side, their other scores coming from penalties by Darren Cave and Robert Kearney.
