Pelous Found To Have No Case To Answer.

The match commissioner for the France – Ireland RBS Six Nations game on Saturday last has reported that Fabien Pelous has no case to answer in relation to an injury sustained by Malcolm O’Kelly.

The match commissioner, Peter Brown of Scotland, for the France – Ireland RBS Six Nations game on Saturday last has reported that Fabien Pelous has no case to answer in relation to an injury sustained by Malcolm O’Kelly.

The incident occurred in the 28th minute and resulted in O’Kelly leaving the field to have his head strapped. However, the player himself exonerated Pelous in his newspaper article the following day saying,

“I know Pelous. I’ve played against him loads of times and I know what he’s about. He’s a tough man but nobody could call him dirty and I think what he did was a total accident. As soon as it happened he apologised. He did it straight away and said so later as well.”

Meanwhile the Irish side are back in their City West base preparing for Sunday’s clash with a resurgent Wales side. They trained yesterday in Naas RFC and the side to play Wales will be named at lunchtime on Wednesday.

On the injury front the indications are that Brian O’Driscoll will play on Sunday. Irish coach Eddie O’Sullivan was cautious but said, “I’m reasonably confident that Brian will play. It’s going to be tight but it’s looking good.”

Wales captain Colin Charvis could however, be forced out of
the Lansdowne Road encounter with a finger injury. Charvis left the field early on Saturday and was seeing a surgeon yesterday with a decision on his availability expected later this week.

Good news from a Welsh point of view is that hooker Robin McBryde, lock Robert Sidoli, back-row Alix Popham and
wing Craig Morgan – who all missed the Scotland match through injury – are expected to return to full training today (Tuesday).
