Wing Denis Hickie scored four tries as Ireland powered their way to an emphatic 61-6 win over Italy at a packed and sunny Thomond Park this afternoon. At the end of a lacklustre first half Ireland led 23-6 thanks to two late tries, from John Kelly and Hickie and they sealed the outcome within minutes of the restart with a controversial push-over try followed moments later by Hickie’s second try. He added two more before Eddie O’Sullivan emptied his bench with 10 minutes remaining and replacement Geordan Murphy scored try number seven in injury time before Humphreys went over in the corner five minutes later.
