Exiles Development Manager Appointed

John Hunter, former coach at London Irish, Saracens & Richmond, but more recently Head of Physical Education & Sport Sciences at Brunel University has been appointed Exiles Development Manager

Johnn Hunter comes to the Union from Brunel University, West London, where he was formerly Head of Physical Education & Sport Sciences. He has been a member of the Exiles Branch Committee since its inception, operating firstly in a coaching capacity and latterly on the administrative front.

In particular, he has been the organiser of the Annual Screening Camp for the past five years, in the search for young Irish-qualified talent in Britain.

John was formerly 1st XV Coach at the London Irish, Saracens and Richmond clubs but is probably best recognised in Britain for turning Brunel into the most successful Rugby University’ there, with three British Universities Championships at Twickenham, plus a further final and two semi-final appearances, in the past decade.

His best-known protigi is Richard Hill, the British & Irish Lion, though the Irish connections have been strong, with Conor O’Shea, Justin Fitzpatrick, Simon Mason, Mel Deane, Kieran Campbell, and Barry Everitt having been among his players/students.
