In Thomond Park, Munster ran in six tries as they romped to a 38-19 win over Rotherham with the home side’s tries coming from Simon Kerr, Keith Wood, Mossie Lawlor, Anthony Horgan and the final try, the best of the night from newcomer, Shaun Payne.

In Ravenhill, Ulster had no trouble whatsoever disposing of Orrell with tries from Bryn Cunningham, Andy Ward, Paddy Wallace, Scott Young and Andy Maxwell.

In Dublin, Gloucester put the home side to the pin of their collar before the Lions emerged 8 point winners. It was 17-7 at the break thanks to tries from Denis Hickie and Keith Gleeson. It was 20-15 with five minutes remaining before Adam Leek added his second second half penalty to ease the home side home.
