Top Irish referee Alain Rolland takes centre stage on Saturday in the Securicor Loftus Stadium in Pretoria when he takes charge of the Tri-Nations clash between South Africa and New Zealand.

Top Irish referee Alain Rolland takes centre stage on Saturday in the Securicor Loftus Stadium in Pretoria when he takes charge of the Tri-Nations clash between South Africa and New Zealand.

It will be the Dubliners first ever time in charge of a Tri-Nations game although he has run the line on two previous occasions including the time in 2002 when Piet van Zyl of Potchefstroom assaulted referee, Dave McHugh.

Rolland (36), who is widely regarded as one of the leading IRB referees won three senior international caps and was involved with the the Ireland Sevens Squad as captain and manager.
