Ireland U21s Lose To Argentina

Ireland’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the IRB Under 21 World Cup ended in disappontment when they were beaten 30-19 by Argentina in Iffley Road today. And it had been looking so good for the Irish at half-time after tries from Richie Lane, Ciaran Potts and Niall Ronan had helped build a 19-12 lead with that all important bonus point just one more try away.

However, in the second half it was a different story as the bigger and more powerful Argentine pack took over and the Irish failed to get on the scoreboard again.

Argentina join New Zealand, Australia and South Africa in a Southern hemisphere dominated semi-final line-up while Ireland must now go on to fight it out for fifth to eight place with Wales, France and England.
