Rob Henderson has been ruled out of the upcoming tour to the southern hemisphere with his place in the squad going to Munster colleague Mike Mullins.

Rob Henderson has been ruled out of the upcoming tour to the southern hemisphere with his place in the squad going to Munster colleague Mike Mullins.

Henderson sustained a torn calf muscle injury in training at Merrion Road yesterday and is expected to be out of action for three weeks.

The Ireland squad begin their departure tomorrow (Thursday) with a second group leaving on Friday.

Gary Longwell has been suffering from a virus these past few days but it is expected to clear up in time to leave him available for selection ahead of the first test.

The squad will have their final training session in Merrion Road today and begin the long haul to Perth in western Australia on Thursday.
