Heineken Sponsorship Continues…

Ahead of the Heineken Cup final ERC has announced that Heineken will continue as title sponsor of the Heineken Cup tournament for a further two years.

ERC is delighted to announce that Heineken will continue as title sponsor of the Heineken Cup tournament for a further two years.

The agreement between ERC, the tournament organisers, and the brewery giant means Heineken will maintain an association with European club rugby’s premier tournament that dates back to the launch of the competition in 1995.

“Heineken has been an outstanding and loyal sponsor of the tournament and we are thrilled to continue for two more years, which appropriately means Heineken and ERC will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the tournament together,” said Jean-Pierre Lux, ERC Chairman.

“Heineken has from the very outset of the tournament added much more than its name to the competition by adding value to every aspect including the fans, clubs and the media. I believe this extension will ensure that the sponsorship will continue to be seen as one of the best and most recognised sponsorships in sport

“Tomorrow we will stage the eighth Heineken Cup final when Perpignan and Toulouse meet here at Lansdowne Road and this eve of the final announcement of Heineken’s on-going support for the tournament will be welcomed by the millions of players, officials and supporters across Europe who have embraced the competition.”

Lizzy Younghusband, International Sponsorship Manager, Heineken International, said:
“Heineken International is delighted to be renewing its partnership with the ERC to continue as title sponsor of The Heineken Cup for a further two years.

“In the last eight years we’ve seen the tournament go from strength to strength to become the premier rugby club competition in the northern hemisphere, and we are proud to have played an integral part in this.

“With our continuing involvement, we can further deliver rugby fans a memorable and enjoyable experience, by means of fully leveraging the sponsorship.”
