Australian international Chris Latham has changed his mind about joining Munster next season and will remain instead with the Queensland Reds. Latham had agreed terms in writing with Munster and had verbally expressed his delight at joining Munster to coach Alan Gaffney a week ago. However, during the course of last weekend, the player contacted Munster officials to inform them of his change of heart.

Latham has been quoted in today’s Irish Times as saying,
“I still haven’t made a decision, but I’ll know in a couple of days.” But the official Queensland Red website carries the following news item posted on May 20th, from Jeff Miller of the Queensland Rugby Union,

“I’m delighted to say that Chris has had a change of heart and wants to stay with Queensland,” he said. “We still have a few issues to iron out but I’m confident he will put pen to paper this week. Clearly we are thrilled that he has decided to stay.”

The website piece concluded,
Latham had been linked with a move to European Cup semi-finalists Munster, but is understood to have informed the Irish side last night (Mon) of his decision to stay in Queensland.
