Toulouse supporters used the occasion of their French championship semi-final with Biarritz on Saturday to complain about the final of the Heineken Cup being staged in Dublin.

ERC saw the game as an opportunity to further market the game and they brought Irish journalists out to the game in Toulouse. What the journalists saw were banners complaning about the venue, the expense of getting there and a protest that took the form of a refusal to bang their drums or use their klaxons as is the norm.

According to reports, 20,000 turned up at the Municipal Stadium for a game that Toulouse won 34-20 and both club Presidents insist that if the game were to be played in France it wouold attract an audience of between 35,000-40-000. As things stand, it is believed that about 5,000 will travel to support Toulouse with about 2,000 expected to make the trip in support of Perpignan.

According to media figures, 1,500 tickets have gone to the corporate sector, 4,500 to ERC and their partners with 8,000 tickets having already been sold to the general public.
