Munster lock Mick O’Driscoll will play his rugby next season with Perpignan having agreed terms this week with the Heineken Cup finalists.

O’Driscoll is believed to have agreed a two-year deal with a club that has engaged in something of a spending spree in recent weeks. The Corkman joins Australian Daniel Herbert and Leicester’s Perry Freshwater at the Catalan club who are also rumoured to be chasing England international wing Dan Luger and All Black Scott Robertson.

Commenting on the player’s departure coach Alan Gaffney said, “Obviously I’m very disappointed to be losing a squad member of Mick O’Driscoll’s calibre. He’s a player who has come up through the Munster ranks, Schools and U21 and was very much a part of our plans for the future. However I respect his decision and wish him the very best of luck with his new club.”
