Away wins for Shannon, Harlequins and St Mary’s

The battle for the fourth quarter-final place in the AIB League Division One hotted up with wins today (Saturday) for Shannon, Harlequins and St Mary’s College.

Shannon were much too good for Blackrock College in Stradbrook, winning 31-10 to move to sixth place in the table, just two points off fourth placed Buccaneers who they play (away) in a week’s time.

As expected, Belfast Harlequins accounted for Terenure College (23-14) in Lakelands and the the northern side are now on 32 points (three off the fourth place) along with St Mary’s Colllege who defeated UCD 20-17 in Belfield.

In Division Two, DLSP were held to a 20-20 draw at home to Ballynahinch, a result that re-opens the knock-out door to Barnhall while Portadown and Dublin University eased their relegation worries with away win, Portadown winning 18-10 in Malone and the students emerging 23-18 victors over Bective Rangers in Donnybrook.
