AIB League – Top Three Win With A Bonus.

The leading trio going into this afternoon’s AIB League, Clontarf, Lansdowne and Ballymena each picked up a bonus point to retain their standings in the table.

Blackrock College v Shannon – Off.
Terenure College v Belfast Harlequins – Off.
UCD v St Mary’s College – Off.

The leading trio going into this afternoon’s AIB League, Clontarf, Lansdowne and Ballymena each picked up a bonus point to retain their standings in the table.

Leaders Clontarf beat lowly Co Carlow 32-10 in Oak Park helped on their way by two Ollie Winchester tries having led 17-7 at half-time.

In Dooradoyle, visitors Lansdowne came from being 13-7 down at the interval to win 26-13, with three second half tries from Brian O’Mahony, Fiachra Baynes and Killian Kennedy.

Up north, Ballymena had the bonus point wrapped up by half-time at which time they led Galwegians 32-10 with the home side’s tries coming from Andy Graham, Matt Waterhouse (2), Mark Blair and Russel Nelson.
The sides swopped tries at the start of the second period, James Topping for Ballymena and a second for Gavin Duffy. Galwegians staged a mini-revival with further tries from Martin McPhail and one from Alex Page in the dying stages but Adam Larkin had the final say for the home side with a penalty in injury time.

In Thomond Park, Ronan O’Gara marked his return to competitive fare with a try in Cork Constitution’s 41-15 victory over Ul Bohemians.
Con led 22-8 at the end of the first half, Frank Sheahan scoring a 39th minute try to add to those from O’Gara and Derek Dillon.
After Phillip Van Esbeck had reduced the deficit, Ronan O’Donovan secured the bonus point for Con and they ended the stronger with further tries from Dillon and Gerry Murphy.

In the only other game played in Division One, Buccaneers were 14-8 winners at home against Dungannon.
