Tries from Denis Hickie, replacement Geordan Murphy and out-half, David Humphreys helped Ireland to a 36-6 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield this afternoon.

They led 13-0 at the break, Hickie scoring the first try in the 23rd minute and after Humphreys had added three more penalties by the end of the third quarter, the Scots had their hearts and resolve finally broken when Murphy kicked clear from his own 22 and then won the race to hack over the line and get the touchdown for a try that Humphreys converted for a 26-6 lead. Minutes later a combination between Brian O’Driscoll, Kevin Maggs and Hickie, ended with the latter popping the ball into the hands of Humphreys who scored under the posts.
