In AIB League Division Two, Thomond moved ever closer to the top spot with the narrowest of victories, 15-14, over Midleton while Dolphin lost a close encounter in Anglesea Road, going down 15-13 to Old Belvedere.

The top four at the start of the day, Dolphin, Thomond, Old Crescent and De La Salle Palmerston all retained their positions although Crescent were held to a 9-9 draw by UCC at The Mardyke.
Young Munster, 5th at the start of the afternoon, slipped two places after they suffered a 17-15 defeat at the hands of Bective Rangers in Donnybrook.
DLSP beat Malone, 18-5 in Belfast and Portadown swopped places with Greystones at the bottom of the table by virtue of their 28-22 win over the Co Wicklow club in Chambers Park.
At Musgrave Park, the home side on this occasion, Sunday’s Well won the relegation battle with Dublin University 14-9.

In Division Three, the placings of the top five remain unchanged, even though, two of the quintet, Wanderers and Corinthians were beaten. Wanderers lost 18-15 in Highfield, while Corinthian went down 18-13 to Skerries in Holmpatrick.

Leaders Waterpark had a good 36-12 win over Queens University in Belfast.
Instonians scored 29 points without reply at home to Monkstown who now look certain of relegation particularly as the team just above them, Naas, recorded an impressive 32-13 home win over Clonakilty. Suttonians moved a step further away from the relegation zone after their 19-12 home win over Connemara.
