Reduced Squad Announced Today

The 22 strong squad, from which the Ireland side to play Scotland in the opening Royal Bank of Scotland Six Nations game will be announced later today

The 22 strong squad, from which the Ireland side to play Scotland in the opening Royal Bank of Scotland Six Nations game will be announced later today following a very successful 3 day training camp that ended yesterday.

The final session took place in damp conditions at Naas RFC where Eddie O’Sullivan oversaw a fairly rigorous work-out in front of a large attendance.

Additions to the original 31 player squad included Munster pair Donncha O’Callaghan and Jeremy Staunton, Leinster Lion David Quinlan and Harlequins stand-off, Paul Burke. Munster lock Paul O’Connell was also in attendance although his arm is still in plaster and he was restricted to working with fitness advisor Mike McGurn

Ronan O’Gara and Peter Stringer took a very limited part, both nursing bruises from the weekend and Girvan Dempsey’s involvement was also restricted but he looks to be well on the road to recovery from the injury he picked up against Bristol.
