Four penalties from the boot of Neil Jenkins gave Pontypridd a 12-9 victory over Connacht in the second leg Parker Pen Challenge Cup game played at Sardis Road. Connacht came into the game trailing by five points and in atrocious conditions never really managed to impose themselves against a strong home outfit. They trailed 9-3 at the break, Eric Elwood, kicking their penalty, and they went further behind to a Jenkins penalty in the 50th minute.
Elwood replied with his second penalty moments later and a third from the veteran out-half on the hour kept the home side under pressure, but they had enough in the tank to cope with the late Connacht surge.
