Shannon ran in eight tries in their 55-22 victory over UCD at Thomond Park on Saturday and as a result move to third place in the table, two points behind the leaders Clontarf who now have a game in hand.

Andrew Thompson was in tremendous form, he scored two tries, converted six and also tagged on a penalty as the home side controlled this game right from the kick off.
They had the bonus point secured after thirty minutes when they scored their fourth try and added four more in the second half.
UCD scored their first try in the 55th minute when Neil Kearns crossed but Shannon replied with a try from Fiach O’Loughlin and a second from Thompson.
Michael Moynagh and Damien McKenna scored late tries for the visitors at a time when the Shannon players were more interested in reports from Perpignan.

The only other game scheduled for the premier division was due to take place in Temple Hill but Ballymena’s long journey south proved fruitless after referee David Tyndall ruled that the pitch was unplayable.
