IRFU Statement

The Irish Rugby Football Union has issued a statement about the significant deficit in season 2003/04 and about it’s plans to deal with the situation

“In the light of a potential significant deficit in season 2003 – 4, the IRFU is continuing to review its financial costs with regard to all activity in the domestic and professional game and its general overheads.”

“Following a meeting with the Connacht Branch, similar briefing meetings are being arranged with the Munster, Ulster and Leinster Branches. A meeting will also take place with the Irish Rugby Union Players’ Association.”

“The Union will take account of all feedback from these discussions. A special Council meeting, as requested by the Connacht Branch, is likely to take place in January.”
