Ulster kicked their Heineken Cup back into life with a superb 13-9 win over Biarritz in Ravenhill while down south Munster scored nine tries in their 64-0 victory over Viadana in Musgrave Park. Munster were expected to do what they did against an Italian side who had already concedd 126 points against Perpignan and Gloucester. Four first half tries had the Munster men 29 points up at half time, their tries coming from Anthony Foley, Anthony Horgan, Frank Sheahan and Paul O’Connell. Foley scored his second three minutes after the restart and further tries came from Ronan O’Gara, Jason Holland – after a superb Alan Quinlan break – replacement Mike Prendergast and a penalty try.

But it was in Belfast that the performance of the night came when Ulster came from behind to snatch a victory that puts their Cup hopes back on track. They went behind to two Dimitri Yachvili penalties and a Julien Peyrelongue drop-goal but Ulster responded with a James Topping try converted by David Humphreys. In the second half Humphreys landed two penalties for a deserved vicory.
