23 Days Suspension for Jannes Labuschagne,

At a disciplinary hearing held on Tuesday 26 November 2002 by video link between Heathrow Airport, London and Ellis Park, Johannesburg, the following decisions were reached covering two incidents from the England v South Africa match on 23 November at Twickenham.

In the case of Jannes Labuschagne, who received a red card for a late challenge on Jonny Wilkinson, the Committee decided to apply a suspension of 23 days commencing at the start of the Super 12 season (21 February 2003).

In the case of Werner Greef, who was cited for a high tackle on Phil Christophers, having considered the reports of the Citing Commissioner and officials, the Committee decided not to overturn the refereeā€™s judgement that a yellow or red card should not be shown and, therefore, did not impose any sanction.

The disciplinary Committee was chaired by Neil Bidder, QC, from Wales, and also included Douglas Hunter from Scotland, and Brian McLoughlin from Ireland.
