Ballymena and Cork Constitution lead the way at the top of the AIB League Division One following their home wins over Co Carlow and Buccaneers respectively this afternoon. For Ballymena it was a relatively easy afternoon as they accounted for the challenge from Oak Park with a 36-6 win, the bonus point helping them to top spot in the League table.
However, Cork Con certainly took the scenic route in their 27-23 victory over Buccaneers in Temple Hill. They found themselves 17 points down after 25 minutes thanks to tries from Paddy O’Sullivan and Wayne Munn.
Pat McCarthy then landed two penalties to leave the home side 17-6 down at half time. Second half tries from Jerry Murrray and Rory Kenneally tied the game 20-20, before Buccaneers edged ahead but a try from Jim Williams, deep into added time, converted by McCarthy gave Con victory.
