Injury Worries In Aussie Camp

Although Wallaby winger Wendell Sailor recovered from a knee injury picked up in training yesterday, there is cause for concern over Jeremy Paul, Owen Finnegan and Matt Burke

Wallaby winger Wendell Sailor came through today’s training session in Buenos Aires, ahead of Saturday’s test against Argentina with flying colours after aggravating a knee injury at training yesterday. Sailor took a full part in training after treatment for an ongoing knee injury that flared up 24 hours earlier.

Coach Eddie Jones admitted that the injury might require corrective surgery after the tour but rubbished media reports that Lote Tuqiri had been approached to join the tour party.
“I’m really surprised to hear that reported in the Australian press as I haven’t met or spoken to Lote.” Jones said. “There has been no approach to Lote either formally or informally, so the story is not true.”

However, Brendan Cannon has been placed on standby after hooker Jeremy Paul strained a hamstring at training today and Jones said that the next 24 hours are crucial in Paul’s case, placing him firmly in the doubtful category class.

Owen Finegan is another whose training session was also cut short with an ankle injury but he’s expected to play while vice-captain Matthew Burke is suffering from a stomach illness which prevented him from attending today’s session. At least ten members of the squad are suffering from some kind of stomach related illness
