Injury to key players in Ulster and more particularly Munster leaves the sides struggling to keep their Heineken Cup hopes alive after just one round of pool games.

In Franklin’s Gardens yesterday, Ulster lost David Humphreys with an ankle injury early in the second half and he is unlikely to be fit for their game against Cardiff next Friday night. His back-up, Paddy Wallace has already been sidelined with a broken leg.

Munster however are facing a real crisis ahead of their crucial home game against Perpignan next Saturday. Rob Henderson is definitely ruled out through injury and there is a doubt about Simon Kerr, both these players join an injured list that already includes, Donncha O’Callaghan, Paul O’Connell, David Wallace, Martin Cahill, Anthony Horgan and John O’Neill.
