Keith Wood Out of Irish Side

Skipper Keith Wood has been withdrawn from the Irish side for Saturday’s international against Georgia and his place in the side will be taken by Leinster Lion Shane Byrne

Keith Wood has withdrawn from the Ireland team to play Georgia in the World Cup 2003 qualifying match at Lansdowne Road on Saturday (k.o. 3pm) because of a neck injury.
His place at hooker will be filled by Shane Byrne, whose position in the replacements is taken by Frank Sheahan (Munster – Cork Constitution).
No. 8 Anthony Foley takes over the captaincy from Wood.

Ireland. Girvan Dempsey; John Kelly, Brian O’Driscoll, Kevin Maggs, Denis Hickie; Ronan O’Gara, Peter Stringer; Reggie Corrigan, Shane Byrne, John Hayes; Gary Longwell, Malcolm O’Kelly, Simon Easterby, Keith Gleeson, Anthony Foley capt.
Replacements: Frank Sheahan, Paul Wallace, Leo Cullen, Alan Quinlan, Guy Easterby, David Humphreys, Rob Henderson.
