Ireland Squad Set Off

19/09/2002. There was an early call (4am) this morning for Ireland squad members and management at the Glenview Hotel in Wicklow for the start of their arduous trip to Krasnoyarsk in Siberia.

Wake up-call in The Glenview Hotel was 4 am for Ireland squad members and management at the start of their journey to Siberia. The squad arrived in good time at Dublin Airport, and in good humour despite the early hour, having avoided the heavy early morning traffic. At 7.20 am they heard the final boarding call for their special charter to Krasnoyarsk.

They will touch down in Moscow to re-fuel and take on a Russian co-pilot and are due to arrive in the Siberian city at midnight (local time). Just over 24 hours later they will take on the Russian national side in front of a 25,000+ crowd
