Defending champions Connacht got the defence of their title off to a flying start with a highy impressive win over Munster in Musgrave Park last Saturday. Munster came into this game on foot of a very useful two-match English tour but they found Connacht in determined mood and ended up losing 19-13. Trevor Richardson scored Connacht’s sole try while Colin Glynn added the points to that score and also landed a drop-goal and three penalties. Connacht looked the better preapred side and dominated the lineout while the home side regularly turned over ball and kicked away possession.
Tomas O’Leary (try) and Richard Lane (con, 2 pen), were the Munster scorers.

However, it’s Ulster who head the table following their four-try 27-23 win over Leinster in Ravenhill.
