Duffy Out of Connacht Side

Connacht suffered a major blow ahead of their Celtic League opening match on Friday in Selkirk, when their classy full-back Gavin Duffy was ruled out of the side with an ankle injury.

Gavin Duffy (pictured) will miss Connacht’s opening Celtic League match against new Scottish side Borders on Friday night. Duffy injured an ankle in the warm-up match against Munster last week and hobbled off the Sportsground pitch in obvious pain. However, he was named in the starting line-up when it was announced earlier this week but now has been forced to cry-off. His place goes to Mark McHugh

Connacht. Mark McHugh;Ted Robinson, Darren Yapp, Tim Allnutt, Wayne Munn; Eric Elwood, Eoin Reddan; Ronnie McCormack, Marnus Uijs, Peter Bracken; Warwick Waugh, Rowan Frost; Michael Swift, Eric Peters, Johnny O’Connor.
Replacements: Dan McFarland, Henry Bourke, Colm Rigney, John O’Sullivan, Chris Keane, Dermot O’Sullivan.
