Ireland Squad Named Today

27/08/2002. Ireland coach, Eddie O’Sullivan is expected to name a twenty two man squad for the international against Romania (Sat. Sept. 7th., Thomond Park) later today.

The Ireland squad for the opening game against Romania (Thomond Park, 7th September. ko 1.30pm) will probably see a return from injury of the likes of Denis Hickie, Kevin Maggs and Rob Henderson, three players who missed Ireland’s summer tour to New Zealand. Manager Brian O’Brien said that they would be looking to pick the “strongest possible squad for the Romanian game which is a Test game in preparation for the RWC qualifier against Romania. Right now, the Russia game is the most important game of the season and in that context this game against Romania is hugely important.”
