Shane Horgan Injury

21/08/2002. An injury to Shane Horgan during training in Limerick yesterday forced the Droghedaman to withdraw from the Ireland squad.

Shane Horgan injured his ankle during training and it was initially believed that he might have done long term damage. However, subsequent examination proved more cheerful and it looks like he may only be out of action for two to three weeks. He will have further medical examination in Dublin today.

On a positive note the injury wasn’t to the same ankle that ruled him out of action for so much of last season and although he is likely to miss Ireland’s opener with Romania, the hope is that he will be back in time for the RWC qualifiers against Russia and Georgia.
