Wasps Edge Out Connacht

19/08/2002. Connacht continued their pre-season preparation with a visit to Adams Park in London yesterday where they were narrowly beaten 33-27 by London Wasps

London Wasps were playing in their first game at Adams Park and in a close game that saw the lead change several times, they ran out 33-27 winners, thanks to two late Kenny Logan penalties.

The sides were tied ten points apiece at the break, Gavin Duffy scoring Connacht’s try with Eric Elwood converting and he also added a penalty. Rising star Ted Robinson (pictured) scored twice in the second half of what was a very useful outing for Steph Nel’s side.

London Wasps scored four tries, two by flanker Paul Volley with Josh Lewsey and Dafydd Lewis getting the others. Alex King kicked one penalty and two conversions while Logan added another two penalties late in the second half.
