Anthony Horgan’s English Operation

Munster wing Anthony Horgan will travel to Park Hospital, Nottingham tomorrow for the corrective surgery to his injured shoulder

The Munster and Ireland A wing Anthony Horgan had a scope which determined that he would require surgery to correct an unstable shoulder joint. It was first thought that Horgan would undergo the treatment at an Irish hospital but because of the time of year, the facilities to perform the operation in Ireland would not have been available for another two weeks.
Therefore the Munster management team looked at alternatives and as a result Horgan will travel to Park Hospital in Nottingham to meet with Professor Angus Wallace who will be overseeing the operation. The Park Hospital has in the past provided it’s facitities to many sports people who required similar treatment.

The operation will take place over the weekend and he will travel back to Ireland in the middle of next week. It is anticipated that the recovery period for this type of operation is 5 to 6 months.
