New Saracens coach Wayne Shelford has set a top six Premiership finish and victory in the Parker Pen Shield as his objectives for the coming season.
New Saracens Coaching Director, Wayne ‘Buck’ Shelford is a legend in New Zealand rugby. A World Cup winner in 1987, he took over the captaincy from David Kirk and led the side from 1987 -1990, a period in which they were unbeaten. He won the last of his 22 caps in 1990 against Scotland and for a period in the 90s had a spell with Northampton.
Players joining him at Saracens, in addition to earlier signing, Christian Califano and Craig Quinnell, inlcude Canadian scrum-half Morgan Williams and Fijian fly-half Nicky Little.
Williams moves from Stade Francais where he was unable to dislodge Fabien Galthie as number ione scrum-half.
Other signing among the English Premiership clubs see Vili Satala head for Harlequins having won himself a silver medal with Fiji at the Commonwealth Games. Also moving to the London club is former Argentine Under 21 prop Pablo Carinalli while Australian Sevens skipper Richard Graham is bound for the west country where he will take up duty as Skills & Defence coach with Bath.
Leicester have added Hull rugby League star Gareth Raynor to their squad.
