New Zealand confirmed their position as the number one Sevens side in the world with a 33-15 win over Fiji in the Commonwealth Sevens final in Manchester on Sunday.
The final, played in front of a packed house was a thoroughly entertaining affair wth New Zealand producing a late scoring burst to take the Gold Medal. Fiji played most of the second half with six men after Salasi Fuli was sent off for a late tackle. New Zealand however, without the charismatic Eric Rush, were full value for their victory.
