South Africa truimph in the U21 World Cup Final

Beating Australia 24-21, South Africa have become the first IRB U21 World Champions.

Following a very successful U21 World Cup Tournament, the Springboks beat Australia in an exciting and close final.
Friday’s Final held in the splendid Ellis Park staduim was referred by our very own Simon McDowell.

The Boks were the most solid performers in the tournament, beating Romania 135-0, France 28-9, Ireland 42-22, New Zealand 19-18 and the Australians during the tournament to eventually lay claim to the sought-after U21 World Cup trophy.

In other news, New Zealand claimed 3rd position following a solid and impressive 59-7 victory over Wales. Ireland and France contended for 5th and 6th position, Ireland having to settle for 6th place in the tournament rankings following defeat at the hands of the French.
