Umaga, Randell and Meeuws Out of All Black Squad

17/06/02. Mark Robinson and Simon Maling have been restored to the All Black squad for the second Test in Eden Park to bring the Cantebury representation in the squad to fifteen.

The ones to lose out Tana Umaga (Wellington Hurricanes), Taine Randall (Otago Highlanders)) and Kees Meeuws (Otago Highlanders) will all play fro the Barbarians against the Maori on Friday night.

Umaga was replaced in the 57th minute against Ireland, concerns over his fitness after being out with knee ligament trouble forcing his early withdrawal. Randall was a bench replacement and Meeuws a member of the extended squad for that opening Test.

Coach John Mitchell refuses to panic after what was seen as a below performance.

“We were not particularly satisfied with the Carisbrook but we are giving the players another chance. If we are going to get the delivery of pereformance that we are after we need to be consistent with our selection.” he said.

Mitchell will announce his starting line-up tomorrow as will Irish coach Eddie O’Sullivan who is expected to name his side atafter the morning training session.
